Jewish Women's Aid

Jewish Women's Aid

The Helpline provides information, signposting and emotional support to Jewish women who are experiencing domestic abuse, or who have done in the past. Also provides information and support for family and friends of a woman who they believe is experiencing domestic abuse. Clients signposted via the Helpline may be referred to the Community Support Team who provide emotional and practical support to women in the community. They may also access face to face and telephone counselling from highly-trained counsellors. Jewish Women's Aid employs a Children's Worker to support children of women affected by domestic abuse. Also run education sessions in schools to children and young people. Outreach work to Jewish young people at University.

Jewish Women's Aid - Dina Support Line

Free and confidential service for women who have experienced sexual violence including rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment whenever it happened in their lifetime and whoever it was perpetrated by, i.e. partner, colleague, acquaintance, family member, stranger or community member or leader. This service is available to women able to travel to North London, or to women from across the UK who would like phone support. Further support includes counselling, group work and holistic therapies. Calls to 0808 80 are free from landlines and mobiles in the UK.

Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust

Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust

The helpline provides valuable information and support to women and their loved ones affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities. Cover a wide range of topics including screening concerns, coping with diagnosis, treatment worries and survivorship issues. Can also provide an online forum where women affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities can share experiences and support each other, an Ask The Expert service which allows women to submit questions online to a panel of medical experts and opportunities for women to meet and support each other through local support groups and an annual information event.

JSENSE

JSENSE

The JSENSE Helpline provides support to parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs tailored to the specialist needs of the Jewish community and is strictly confidential. The Team can assist with issues such as schools, annual reviews and inclusion in the classroom, requesting statutory assessment, education, health and care plans. Signposting may include directing to the JSENSE website which has detailed information on legal advice or the JSENSE Directory of Services. Helpline appointments can be booked for the next week by calling 0161 850 3330 or emailing services@jsense.org.uk. Appointments are made available by our advisers and may be released up to thirty days in advance. A member of our team will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient appointment time.

JTeen

Confidential and anonymous text-based helpline service for community teens providing emotional support and guidance. JTeen Support is made up of trained volunteer counsellors and professional therapists. Occasionally we may signpost users to more appropriate services if required. Texts received during our available hours will receive an automated response telling you that a trained counsellor will text you back shortly. We will try to answer your message within a few minutes but during busy times it may take longer.

24 hour freephone helpline providing support to women with or with out children affected by domestic violence and abuse. Range of support services for women and children including refuges, outreach, drop in children's services and a pet fostering service. The Team is experienced in working with women from all backgrounds including Black, Minority Ethnic and Refugee communities. Can also deal with honor based violence, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, unsettled immigration status and no recourse to public funds. Calls to 0808 80 numbers are free from mobiles and landlines in the UK and do not appear on itemised billing.

A dedicated helpline not only for victims but also for professionals in need of guidance. All call-handlers have experience in risk assessing cases of forced marriages and honour based abuse. The Team can provide a listening ear and practical support. Can also assist in relocating callers to safe and temporary accommodation.

Confidential helpline offering advice and support to parents, carers and family members who are concerned about a child. If your child wishes to speak to someone about their situation then please encourage them to contact Childline. The Team can help with issues including guidance on school responsibilities, advice on communicating effectively with your child’s school, tips on how best to support your child, information on other relevant Kidscape services, details of other organisations that can help. Please note Kidscape cannot take on individual cases or act as advocates, contact a school or other involved agencies (unless there are serious safeguarding concerns), comment on the actions of individual school staff or professionals involved in your situation, offer a counselling service (we can signpost to relevant organisations), give specific legal advice (we can tell you the legislation relating to bullying), offer advice to anyone residing outside of England and Wales, accept liability for third party information such as websites that we may refer you to, offer advice in regards to bullying of adults.

Family and Friends Advice Line for those looking after a relative’s child. The Team provide a free, confidential and impartial service offering advice and information on welfare benefits and other sources of financial support, and a wide range of other issues including employment, housing, debt, social care and education. Can also signpost to other appropriate organisations. The advisers can also give more information about the services Kinship offers kinship carers – grandparents and other members who are raising a relative’s child, including the national Support Network for the wider family raising children. Calls to the Advice Line cost the same as calls to any geographical (01 or 02) phone number whether calling from a landline or a mobile. If you have an inclusive calling plan your free calls will include calls to this number.

Lambeth and Southwark Mind

Provide a range of services including a telephone information line, website directory and peer support group to support people in mental distress as well as friends and families. The information line can provide information about services, groups or other support. This is an information service only - the Team cannot provide counselling or advice. For information in Lambeth outside the information service times call Lambeth Living Well Partnership on 0207 924 9657 (hub open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm).
