Our Team

Paula Ojok

Paula is the Chief Executive who joined Helplines Partnership in 2008. Her previous roles were in the private sector working for several high profile household names including Sony Computer Entertainment, Morton International and Cable and Wireless.

Gemma Khairi

Gemma is the Director of Operations who enjoys connecting and engaging with people and building relationships which I think are very important in both my personal and professional life. I am committed to those relationships and seek also to bring people and organisations together in order to share and uplift and support each other.

Lorraine Pearce

Lorraine has worked for Helplines Partnership since 2009 and has extensive and varied experience of working in administrative roles. She has previously worked as a helpline volunteer and currently supports her husband who is Chairman of a local voluntary environmental charity. Her current role includes Governance, Human Resources, general administration and Health & Safety.

Laura Dowswell

Laura is the Head of Finance and is a qualified as an Accounting Technician in 2000 after completing her training in general practice and in 2012 gained Fellow status as an FMAAT member. She started working as finance officer for a local Church in 2008 which sparked her interest in working in the Charity Finance sector. She is also HLP’s lead assessor and enjoys learning more about our member helplines and the services they offer. Laura is also Vice-Chair of BBS UK charity, utilising her finance skills and being on the ‘other side of the table’. In her free time Laura loves the beach life in both summer and winter as she lives with her family on the coast of West Sussex and can often be found taking a therapeutic dip in the sea.

Bethan Harries

Bethan worked for Action on Hearing Loss (formally known as RNID) as an Information and Communication Manager throughout North and Mid Wales for over ten years, before moving up to Lancashire where she became Team Leader for the Bridging the Gap, a hearing aid maintenance service across Lancashire and Cumbria. After a brief maternity break, she became the Services Manager for Sightline, a helpline and telephone befriending service for people with sight loss.

Laura Pierce

Laura Pierce is the services and co-ordinator executive what I most enjoy about my role is being able to support and work with a team who all hold the same enthusiasm and passion for what we are trying to achieve.

Samantha Denyer

Samantha Denyer is the Helplines Standard Co-ordinator and an Assessor at HLP. She has worked for over 20 years in Information, Advice and Support work. Holding a senior position in the NHS as a Hearing Therapist as well as working in the Charity sector and Higher Education on Helplines, Outreach and Group support work. Samantha has a BSc (hons) in Biological Sciences from The London Metropolitan University.

Christian Murphy

Christian is a Trainer.

Stella Pearson

Stella has worked in helplines for 15 years, with a background in information provision and training in charities. With an MA in Information Studies, her first career in academic libraries also involved teaching and assessing students and planning for courses. She enjoys meeting people from a wide range of helpline support services, and is always struck by the high level of skill and committed support offered by helplines. She loves working in a team and believes that in the helpline sector, you never stop learning and developing.

Ashanty Alves

Ashanty is the Marketing and Communications Officer.
