Helplines Awareness Day 2026
Every year on 23 February, Helplines Awareness Day shines a spotlight on the vital role helplines play in the health and wellbeing of people across the UK — reminding the nation that support is always there.
Our Core Objectives
Raise public awareness
Helplines are a vital but often overlooked health and wellbeing resource in the UK. We work to make sure more people know they exist — and how to reach them.
Reduce stigma
Asking for help is not weakness. Each campaign challenges the shame and silence that stops people from reaching out when they need it most.
Helpline Hub
Every campaign connects people with The Helpline Hub — where people can search for the right helpline for their situation.
Campaigns over the years
2026: Developing in the Dark
A powerful travelling portrait photography exhibition, created in collaboration with Rachel Brewster-Wright of Little Vintage Photography. Each image captures someone whose life has been transformed by a helpline. The title is intentional — a helpline call is often made in a person's darkest moment. Just as a photograph emerges from the darkroom, these stories reveal themselves with care and quiet power.
The exhibition launched at The Shed, Liverpool, and has since welcomed guests including the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Barbara Murray, and a Premiership footballer. It is now travelling to new venues across the UK.
2025: Video Campaign
In 2025, we produced a film to capture the human stories behind helpline calls — bringing to life what it really means to pick up the phone. The video was shared across social media and with our member network to drive awareness on the day.
