Health In Mind
Trauma Counselling Line Scotland (TCLS) offers confidential telephone counselling to any adult who experienced abuse as a child. This can include sexual, emotional, physical, psychological, spiritual abuse or neglect. The counselling team are fully trained in this area and both male and female counsellors are available from a range of ethnic backgrounds. Calls to 0808 80 numbers are free from landlines and mobile phones within the UK and do not appear on itemised bills. TCLS is funded by SurvivorScotland and managed by Health in Mind.
Help Musicians UK
24/7 support line for those working in the music industry providing a listening ear, emotional support, information, signposting, counselling and specialist advice on benefits, debt and legal matters. Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline
The Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline is a confidential anonymous support and signposting service for any caller affected by domestic abuse or domestic violence (victims, their friends and families, professional callers and people wanting to change their behaviour towards others). The Helpline offers detailed local, timely referral information, relevant to each individual caller. Hft - Family Carer Support Service (FCSS)
Offers free one-to-one support by phone, email or letter for family carers who have a relative with a learning disability. Run regular workshops for family carers. Can also provide resources for family carers covering a range of topics including holiday information, benefit changes, safeguarding, using the Mental Capacity Act, BME and health information.
HIV i-Base
Information on HIV treatments for HIV-positive people, their families, carers and healthcare professionals. Publications include non-technical guides to combination therapy, hepatitis C co-infection, side effects and pregnancy and HIV. Produces a monthly bulletin for doctors. Calls to 0808 80 numbers are free from landlines and mobiles in the UK and do not appear on itemised billing.
HoardingUK
Confidential helpline supporting people affected by hoarding behaviours achieve spatial and personal change, to reduce isolation and improve health and wellbeing. Further support includes assistance for families and friends, remote advocacy, online skype group sessions and benefits support. HoardingUK offers a call-back service to ensure that the service is free. While people do not have to provide their names or phone numbers, for those who do, HoardingUK provide the service free. Calls to 02 geographic numbers from landlines are typically charged up to 13p per minute. Calls to 07 mobile numbers are charged between 10p and 20p per minute from landlines and are typically not included in free call packages. Call costs from mobiles vary according to the calling plan chosen.
Hospitality Action
Hospitality Action is the trade charity offering a crucial lifeline to people of all ages, working and retired, from the hospitality industry. Offer a range of services to past and present employees within the industry. Support includes the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) providing expert advice, support and assistance to those in crisis or need. The EAP is a confidential and fully managed scheme that includes advice and factsheets, managerial advice line, personal counselling (both via the telephone and face-to-face), critical incident and trauma support, legal information, financial planning and debt advice, addiction support, hardship grants where appropriate, whistleblowing service, mediation, bespoke training focusing on wellbeing in the workplace.
Hourglass
Helpline offering information and support for anyone concerned about the abuse of an older person. Action on Elder Abuse promotes changes in policy and practice and aims to raise awareness about the treatment of older people. Training for care staff. Conferences. Talks.
Housing Rights
Advice and representation service for people with housing problems such as homelessness, rent arrears, tenancy problems, harassment, illegal eviction and threatened court action. Also provides specialist training and information to assist other advisors.
Howard League for Penal Reform
Confidential legal service for young people, including those in prison. An answerphone service is available and callers should make sure that their name, prison and prison number are clearly stated. Anyone can call the advice line if they have a problem that might have a legal answer. If unable to help themselves, the organisation will signpost to help through their access service. Professionals can also make a referral on the main number.
