Nightline Association

Provide emotional support to students in distress. The telephones are manned throughout the night during term time when other specialist university welfare services are closed. Nightline contacts can be found via website. Now operating at over 120 universities and colleges each individual Nightline is run by students for students at their university. Nightline is confidential and anonymous. Can help with issues including academic stress, bullying, debt, loneliness, depression, bereavement, arguments with flatmates, concerns about friends, addictions, eating disorders or self harm, relationship and family problems, sexuality, sexual abuse or abortion. Some Nightlines also offer support via email, instant messaging, or in person and many offer information and supplies such as pregnancy tests, condoms and attack alarms.

Aims to provide help, relief and rehabilitation for people with anxiety disorders, panic attacks, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, etc. Also provides support to families and carers. One to one telephone mentoring and telephone recovery groups for members only. Written step by step recovery programmes for phobias and OCD. Literature, books, CDs and DVDs. Support for people trying to give up tranquilisers. Provides lay-person self help cognitive and behaviour therapy as a basis for recovery. Some local groups. Raises public and professional awareness of the problems created by anxiety disorders. People may ring the answerphone and listen to a message then leave their details to receive an information pack.

North Dublin MABS

North Dublin MABS

Free, confidential helpline guiding people through dealing with problem debt. MABS money advisors work with clients with a wide range of personal debts, including: Mortgage arrears, Personal loans, Utilities arrears, Credit card debt, Hire purchases, Rent arrears, Court fines, Catalogue debts, Sub-prime loans and Legal moneylenders. The Service is independent, with no links to any banks or credit unions. All dealings with MABS will be confidential. MABS also operates a network of 65 offices around the country. A confidential and anonymous service. The Helpline provides a listening ear, emotional support and reassurance, signposting and referral into other services for individuals and the carers of people experiencing mental distress. In Leeds you can also call the Connect Helpline on 0808 800 1212 (6pm – 2am 7 days a week) if you are in distress at night time and need someone to talk to.

The NSPCC Helpline is for anyone who has concerns about the welfare of a child. Our helpline service provides support for adults who are worried about a child, advice for parents and carers, consultations with professionals who come into contact with abused children or children at risk of abuse, information about child protection and the NSPCC. If a translator is required this can be arranged. Support for hard of hearing clients can be found at www.sv2.me.

ChildLine is a service for children and young people up the age of 18. The helpline team provide support, counselling and advice and refer children in danger to appropriate sources of help. Young people can contact ChildLine about any problem, including family relationship issues, bullying, school and college, physical abuse, sexual abuse, anxiety, self harm, mental health, sexual identity, sex and relationships, life issues, autism, online and mobile safety, addictions, friends, eating problems, crime and the law, racism, support after ChildLine. Calls are confidential and will not appear on the phone bill, including mobiles. Further support includes online chat and 'Ask Sam' problem page.

Confidential chat service providing encouragement and support to all nurses, midwives, healthcare support workers and the friends and family of such staff, inclusive of students, associates, military personnel and those who have retired, and regardless of the setting in which they work. The peer-led listening service will provide space for those in need to offload and chat with someone who gets it, helping to reduce emotional isolation within this professional community. Please note the volunteer team are unable to provide advice, counselling, or discuss professional issues.

Calls to 0808 80 numbers are free from landlines and mobiles across the UK and do not appear on itemised bills.

Team of advisers support children, young people, and vulnerable adults to ensure their rights are up held.
