Safeguarding for Helplines

This course will help increase your knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, not only in the broader legal and societal context, but also in relation to understanding key safeguarding terms, signs and indicators. It seeks to develop awareness and examine legislation that can directly be implemented into practice, procedures and policy provision. It aims to build confidence and offer guidance surrounding confidentiality, recording and information sharing in line with GDPR and safeguarding sensitivities.

Understand the terms Safeguarding and Abuse for adults

Understand the terms Safeguarding and Abuse for children

Identify how our own values and beliefs can influence safeguarding

Describe the categories, signs and indicators of abuse: adults and children

Understand risk management and assessment in safeguarding

Know how to respond to safeguarding concerns

Understand when to report safeguarding concerns

Identify the importance of the principles for recording personal data

Recognise the personal impact when working with risk


Course Options

Full Day: 6 hours

Our most comprehensive programme (CPD Accredited) with significantly more content, discussion and practical exercises. We recommend this option if possible.

Half Day: 3 hours

A condensed overview of core concepts. Ideal for those with limited time / funding who still want to equip their teams with key skills or as a refresher.
