Barnardo's - Ukrainian support helpline

Ukrainian Support Helpline providing an holistic support service for those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. Support includes therapy with a qualified psychotherapist – delivered via the phone or online, with access to interpreters, advice on a range of issues e.g., housing, accessing key health services, education, employment and more via our trained helpline support workers and practical support including access to digital devices to ensure families stay connected to loved ones during this worrying time, as well as stimulating toys for children, vital baby items and more. All services include access to interpreters in Ukrainian and Russian.

Beat can provide information and support on eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and compulsive and emotional overeating. The support is available through Helplines, online support groups, message boards, and peer support groups and HelpFinder, an online directory of support services. Beat also provides training, resources and consultancy. Support and encourage research into eating disorders and challenge stereotypes and stigma. Calls to the helpline are free from mobiles and landlines in the UK and do not appear on itemised bills.

Behçet's Syndrome Society

Telephone support and information for people with Behcet's disease, a chronic condition causing inflammation of smaller blood vessels. The helpline is run by volunteers and the answerphones may be used at certain times. Callers who leave a message are contacted as soon as possible. Please note that the Team do not deal with emergencies and are unable to give direct medical advice. In case of emergency please call a doctor. Further support includes information leaflets and factsheets, support groups and events.

Non-judgemental confidential helpline providing a listening ear, support and advice to men, women and children affected by domestic abuse. Can also support others who are worried about someone as well as survivors of abuse themselves. Helpline Team can also signpost and support with information about housing, legal and financial matters, council and other services related to domestic abuse. Further support from BWA includes accommodation and outreach services and programmes to deal with the immediate needs of survivors and their children.

BSWA provides a free, confidential telephone helpline service to anyone affected by violence against women and children. The Helpline Team can provide emotional support, details for emergency accommodation such as refuge or temporary accommodation, information on community drop-ins across Birmingham and Solihull for face to face support on a range of issues and safety planning information. Support extends to professionals, friends or family members who are supporting or are worried about a woman who is affected by abuse. The Team can also assist with issues including abusive relationships, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, child sexual abuse, gang association and young people's relationships. Calls to 0808 80 numbers are free from mobiles and landlines in the UK and do not appear on itemised bills.

The service is open 24hrs a day, every day. The helpline can also offer advice, information and signposting relating to health and social care and a range of other issues including low mood, depression, anxiety, self-harm or suicide. Also, live webchat with an inbuilt translation function so we can chat in your preferred language. This service is able to provide fast and responsive support in real-time. Further support from Birmingham Mind includes practical emotional and wellbeing support over the phone or through wellbeing services, access to Covid-19 counselling and support for keyworkers.
