Andrew's story: 'I just needed someone to understand'

IMG_7183

I have used the Epilepsy Action helpline a few times over the years when I just needed someone to understand and reassure myself of how to cope. Not just with epilepsy, but also with depression, which seemed to come out of the blue. Some days were better than others. I found it hard to talk about because of the stigma surrounding epilepsy and mental health. My family is fantastic, though I preferred to use the helpline to talk to someone confidentially, which helped.

I would recommend the helpline to anyone who is struggling to cope with their epilepsy, including parents/ carers looking after a person with epilepsy.
